FLORIN GARDEN PARTY


FLORIN GARDEN PARTY.

A substantial addition to the funds of the refreshment stall at the forthcoming Scottish fair, in aid of the Yeronga - Moorooka Presbyterian Church, was realised by a florin garden party held yesterday afternoon at the residence, of Mrs. C. H. Barclay, Beaudesert-road, Moorooka. The grounds were gay with flags and bunting, and afternoon tea was served at tables arranged on the lawn and decorated with sweet peas. The organisers were Mrs. Barclay and Mrs. G. Nash, and the guests were entertained with music, croquet, and competitions. Songs were rendered by Mrs. J. Richardson, Misses Agnes Manson, and Gladys Peters, elocutionary items by Miss Kathleen Radford, and pianoforte solos by Miss Cowen. Those present included Mesdames B. Adsett, Kidney, C. W. COIN AFTERNOON AT WYNNUM.

"The Torridge," Hill-street, Wynnum, was the scene of a successful function on Wednesday, when Mrs. A. H. Cory, assisted by the conveners and helpers in connection with the sweet stall for the forthcoming Methodist fete, entertained a large number of visitors. During the afternoon Mesdames Paddock, S. WATSON - Killed in France


WATSON - As a token of remembrance of our brave brother, Norman Mayor Watson, who gave his life that we might live, killed in action in France on April 5th. "Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord."  Inserted by Mr. and Mrs. J. S. R. Wyllie.

GEORGETOWN.
A telegram of the 26th instant says a tent, in which two drunken miners were sleeping, was burned down, and one of the men, named William Barrow, was roasted to death.
